Ameesha Patel’s Mumbai Home Hit by Jewellery Theft, Maid Arrested
Ameesha Patel’s family home in Mumbai’s Churchgate area reportedly saw jewellery worth Rs 5 lakh go missing. Police arrested a domestic worker after tracing her to Virar, with the investigation continuing.
According to an IANS report, the arrested woman has been identified as 40-year-old Seema Ghate, a resident of Palghar. She had reportedly been working as a homemaker at the residence of Ameesha Patel’s mother, Asha Patel, for around one-and-a-half years.
Police said a bracelet was allegedly stolen from the house in January 2026. Asha Patel reportedly suspected Seema Ghate of being involved in the theft. She is said to have subsequently spent around five to six months asking Ghate to admit to the alleged theft and return the jewellery.
However, the bracelet was allegedly not returned even after considerable time. Asha Patel then approached Mumbai Police and filed a complaint at the Marine Drive police station. Following the complaint, police began investigating the matter.
Initially, police registered a case against an unidentified woman under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The Crime Detection Team subsequently took up the investigation and began searching for the suspected woman.
During the investigation, police traced the accused to Virar and took her into custody. Following questioning, Seema Ghate was arrested and produced before the court. The court remanded her to police custody until September 15.
The investigation is currently underway, with police continuing efforts to recover the stolen jewellery and examine other aspects linked to the alleged theft.
